Stephanie Cruz

Clinical Director

Stephanie is a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 20 years of experience in the Mental Health field. She is respectful about each person’s life story and background; she genuinely believes in the positive benefits of therapy (for everyone - including therapists) and the importance of supporting people in various life circumstances.

Initially in her career she began working with children and adolescents as a psychologist in the school setting; later, while completing a Master’s in Clinical Psychology, she gained experience providing therapy to adults in a psychiatric clinic as well as in private practice. She was part of a foundation which provided group therapy to parents of children with Autism, and also had the opportunity to interact with children and adults with Autism, supporting them through recreative and life skills programs and activities.

Her life experiences, multicultural background, relocations (her father served in the US Army), and interaction with relatives with mental health conditions led her to be passionate about finding resources and continually gaining more knowledge about how to provide the best therapy services to clients.

Stephanie believes in the values of freedom and respect and has been involved in organizations which work to fight against human trafficking. Realizing how this and other social issues impact people’s lives motivated her to become a Certified Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and an EMDR Certified Therapist.

She considers it necessary to demonstrate care and compassion and is grateful to have the privilege of witnessing others' growth and recovery. Although the process at times is not easy, she admires her clients for their courage and willingness to work toward their goals.

Sparky
Our Therapy Dog

Sparky is a Rat Terrier probably mixed with Australian Cattle Breed. He is 11 years old, which makes him a senior dog, but he still has energy and likes going on walks. Sparky was adopted in June 2020.

Sparky is a calm, friendly and kind dog, so we believed he could become a therapy dog. He was enrolled to take some classes and later had to pass some observations. In November 2021, Sparky was officially certified as a Therapy Dog.

Some details about Sparky is that he loves nature, exploring and smelling everything when he goes on walks (he really knows how to practice Mindfulness skills), and being friendly with people. Sparky also enjoys going to work, welcoming everyone when they arrive at the office and sometimes being a support in therapy sessions. Sparky definitely gets excited when given treats.
